Jet Harris MBE (born Terence Harris, 6 July 1939) was the bass guitarist of The Shadows until April 1962, when he left The Shadows following a series of disagreements. He released solo instrumental and vocal work with some success and, as part of a duo with former Shadows drummer Tony Meehan, topped the UK Singles Chart in early 1963 with "Diamonds". His first solo single, released in 1962, was "Besame Mucho", a Latin standard which he began to feature again in his stage act. B-side was the vocal "Chills and Fever". The record was moderately successful, selling around 50,000 copies and spent 7 weeks in the UK charts, peaking at number 22.
